During
the life time of the Media Development Project, a number of publications
have been produced. In some cases these have been created to inform our
own strategic choices, in others to reflect important activities that we
have organised and in all cases to inspire informed, constructive and
sustainable media development activities in Mozambique.
All
publications presented below are produced by the Media Project and
copies can be obtained by contacting us. We encourage any use of our
publications, but request that reference is made to the source: The
UNESCO/UNDP Media Development Project in Mozambique and that a link is
provided to our home page. At the same time we should remind readers and
users that opinions expressed in the project publications do not
necessarily reflect overall UNESCO opinion and policy.
We have
also established a partmership with SAMDEF (Southern
African Media Development Fund), and one the results is our translation
into Portuguese of the set of six SAMDEF Media Managment Manuals. These
manuals will be used by us and SAMDEF in our joint plans to strengthen
the important management capacity of the Mozambican Media.
The Media
Pluralism Landscape study was prepared very early in the life of the
project to provide an accurate
overview of the media in
Mozambique, the human and technical
capacity available, and to
present a
map of where in Mozambique which media are available.
Sustainability, impact,
pluralism and gender are among the
cross cutting issues raised
all through this exiting study, presenting the
facts, and
assessing analytically their significance.
The study ends with a set
of concrete recommendations with operational implementation
details and proposals to assist anyone interested in taking part in the
support of the important development of the media, of the pluralism and
diversity and the independence of the media.

Qoute from
the books: Human
capacity at varying levels and carries out an assessment of the
education and training ongoing in Mozambique. On this basis, the report
analyses the need for upgrading and reforming
the existing journalism education to meet needs and requirements of the
independent and pluralistic media in the country.

Together we are changing
our lives is a book on our
Process Coach Concept and Scheme
developed as a methodology to effectively ensure extensive and intensive
community training and involvement in the groups of volunteer
programmers of the stations.
The book is
based on
the around 100 monthly reports from the (now)
nine coaches
working every weekend with the communities, developing community radio
policies and regulations, building strong community
control
structures around the station, and learning how to
identify
burning community issues and turn them into adequate,
useful
programs in the local languages.
Will be available in
Portuguese and English. |
